Major Projects

Many of the company's collaborative R&D and Technology Development Projects are sponsored by international industry and other organisations as a single sponsor (Third Party), or as Group Sponsored Projects (GSP). Recent clients have included: Mitsubishi Heavy Industry (Japan),Electric Power Research Institute - EPRI (USA), Electricite de France, ENEL (Italy), Electricity Supply Board (Ireland), Commissari a l'Energie Atomique (France), CEA Technologies (Canada), Ontario Power Generation (Canada), Progress Energy (Florida, USA), Kyushu Electric (Japan), Innovene/ BP (UK),  etc. etc. Projects are also undertaken for third party or single organisations and more recently these have included: Sumitomo Metals (Japan), AES (Pakistan),SIRIM (Malaysia), Israel Electric, CLP (Hong Kong), SABIC (Saudi Arabia), Ineos (UK), Mott McDonald (UK), Pro Novum (Poland) and many more.

R&D and engineering projects are also undertaken for government bodies (such as the Department of Trade and Industry, UK) and international bodies (such as the European Commission).  As an example, recently ETD has been leading three multi-million euros R&D and Thematic Network projects and a number of smaller projects funded by the European Commission and involving 18 European countries and 45 organisations, including Siemens (Germany), ALSTOM Power (UK, Switzerland), RWEnpower (UK), E.ON (UK), ELSAM (Denmark), Corus (UK), British Energy (UK), Mannesmann (Germany), SKODA (Czech Republic), Dalmine (Italy), Mitsui Babcock (UK), VTT (Finland), BZF (Hungary), etc.

This R&D base gives ETD an edge over many of its competitors worldwide in providing high temperature plant Consulting Service in component integrity and life assessment.
